Diversity, equity and inclusion at adesso

Fostering diversity, equality, and inclusion is an ongoing process that requires constant work and reflection. Hence, we started with this simple question: "What kind of company do we want to work for?" We then looked closer at how we're doing regarding our approach to these values.

Building a more inclusive environment takes time, but it's a journey we're dedicated to day by day.

Our understanding of diversity, equality and inclusion

We want to stop pigeonholing people. Our goal is to accept people in all their complexity and uniqueness; the main focus of which is the aspiration to accept every person as they are. The diagram below gives an impression of the variety of possible aspects we consider in the process.

Unconscious bias leads to quick and sometimes incorrect judgements based on limited facts and our own life experiences. This is why we devote a great deal of attention to the topic, in events, training sessions, self-learning activities and in our daily work.

The process has already taken root – our initiatives

We’ve embedded diversity, equity and inclusion in many places within the company. This includes our catalogue of further education opportunities as well as our calendar of events. In addition, we use activities and offers to drive the issues forward. Here are some examples to give you a rough idea.

She for IT

Breaking away from IT stereotypes

adesso is looking to strengthen and promote women in the IT sector with the She for IT initiative. The women’s employee journey – our vision of a gender-fair adesso culture – is a key building block. Our goal is to significantly increase the number of female computer scientists, consultants, managers and junior IT specialists at adesso in the next few years and to make a long-term contribution to getting more girls and women interested in a future career in IT.

Our status

What makes us stand out?

It all starts with the status quo. Who are these adesso employees actually – at least for the right now? Our plan is to attain an accurate picture of the people who work here together. This helps us identify possible misalignments and correct them using the appropriate measures – from recruiting to training. We’ll publish the results here on these pages as soon as the current survey is complete.

Our award for living diversity

It is a good feeling when your efforts are appreciated. That is why we were incredibly pleased when the jury of Total E-Quality Deutschland e.V. informed us that we would be receiving the Total E-Quality award. This award does not mark the end of our work here – but it is a reason for us to strengthen our commitment. This is because we, just like our society, want to keep making progress with regard to diversity.
